The Lake in the Woods Swim Team and Team Guppies Programs are for members of our community. Children between the ages of three and eighteen, can join in the summer fun! Team Guppies is a pre-swim team for children age 3 to 7. There is no skill required. The Guppies usually practice three times a week for 15 minutes and swim just before home meets hosted at our pool.
The Swim Team is for children and youth age 8 and over through age 18. Members must be able to swim one lap of each of the four competitive strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle) but, if a child likes to swim, he or she should give the team a try. Children will learn the strokes quickly as one-hour practices are offered five mornings a week! Coaches even leave lap instructions for swimmers unable to attend the morning practices due to camps, Bible School, etc. for afternoon practice on their own!
There are usually two swim meets a week during June and July. Meets are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30 P.M. with swimmers arriving at 5:30 P.M. for Home meets and 5:45 P.M. for Away meets. Swimmers also have the opportunity to participate in the annual Bainbridge Invitational Swim Meet held at our pool and the Chagrin Valley Relays.
Swim Team participation is not only a great way for kids to improve their swimming skills, it's also a wonderful "lane" for meeting the neighbors, making new friends, sharing in the community spirit, and just having FUN!
